Il Fantafestival, la storica kermesse romana che nel 2024 compie 44 anni, ha aperto ufficialmente le submission per la nuova edizione, prevista per l’autunno.
Registi, producer e autori di cinema horror, sci-fi, thriller e fantasy potranno candidare le proprie opere (cortometraggi, documentari e lungometraggi) attraverso le piattaforme Filmfreeway o Festhome, per concorrere all’assegnazione dei due “Pipistrelli d’Oro” – al Miglior Cortometraggio e al Miglio Lungometraggio – e del Premio “Mario Bava” alla Migliore Opera Prima.
Il Fantafestival, nato nel 1981, è il più longevo e uno dei più importanti festival italiani dedicati al cinema fantastico. Nel corso della sua lunga storia ha ospitato in Italia tutti i nomi più importanti della cinematografia fantastica mondiale: da attori cult come Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, John Carradine, Rutger Hauer, Robert Englund e Klaus Kinski, fino a registi e produttori come Roger Corman, Freddie Francis, George A. Romero, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Sam Raimi, e, fra gli italiani, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, e Lamberto Bava.
L’edizione 2024 segna il ritorno nello staff organizzativo della manifestazione di Marcello Rossi e Luca Ruocco, che hanno lavorato alla realizzazione del Fantafestival dal 2010 al 2018, nel comitato editoriale insieme a Simone Starace, organizzatore delle ultime cinque edizioni del festival.
Lo staff di collaboratori della nuova edizione si allarga a un comitato di selezione formato da addetti ai lavori ed esperti del settore che comprende: Paolo Gaudio (regista, animatore e caporedattore di InGenereCinema.com), Roberto Giacomelli (fondatore di DarkSideCinema.it, programmista e selezionatore Rai4), Ludovico Lamarra (direttore di Nerdface.it e bassista Il Muro del Canto), Luca Pernisco (doppiatore e redattore di InGenereCinema.com), Orsola Trevisan (già collaboratrice del Fantafestival nelle edizioni 2013-2017) e Gilda Signoretti (redattrice di InGenereCinema.com e documentalista nel settore televisivo).

FANTAFESTIVAL 2024: Submissions open!
Fantafestival, the historic Roman event which turns 44 in 2024, has officially opened submissions for the new edition, scheduled for next autumn.
Directors, producers and authors of horror, sci-fi, thriller and fantasy cinema will be able to submit their works (short films, documentaries and feature films) through Filmfreeway and Festhome, to compete for the two “Golden Bats” awards – Best Short and Best Feature – and the “Mario Bava” Award for Best Feature Debut.
Fantafestival, born in 1981, is the oldest and one of the most important Italian festivals dedicated to fantastic cinema. Over the course of its long history it has hosted in Italy all the most important names of world fantastic cinema: from cult actors such as Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, John Carradine, Rutger Hauer, Robert Englund and Klaus Kinski, to directors and producers such as Roger Corman, Freddie Francis, George A. Romero, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Sam Raimi, and, among the Italian ones, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, and Lamberto Bava.
The 2024 edition marks the return among the organizers of Marcello Rossi and Luca Ruocco, who worked on Fantafestival from 2010 to 2018, in the editorial committee together with Simone Starace, organizer of the last five editions of the festival.
The staff of the new edition expands with a selection committee of professionals and experts which includes: Paolo Gaudio (director, animator and editor-in-chief of InGenereCinema.com), Roberto Giacomelli (founder of DarkSideCinema.it, programmer and Rai4 selector), Ludovico Lamarra (director of Nerdface.it and bassist for Il Muro del Canto), Luca Pernisco (dubber and editor of InGenereCinema.com), Orsola Trevisan (already collaborator of Fantafestival in the 2013-2017 editions) and Gilda Signoretti (editor of InGenereCinema.com and TV archiver).
