Fantascienza.TV by Marcello Rossi is a website dedicated to science fiction, with a special interest for television and cinema, but not necessarily limited to those. This website unfortunately is all in Italian language, except for this page. If you want to read it in English you can use the free Google Translator instrument here. This is not a news site, but it is intended to be an in-depth site on the topics covered: articles on Fantascienza.TV always offer information and other contents, such as photos or videos, which are rare and little known, and which add something to what it’s already available on-line. In other words, on Fantascienza.TV it is possible to find something that it’s not already on the Internet.
Since the boundary between science fiction and science is increasingly blurred, Fantascienza.TV also hosts some science articles.

Marcello Rossi
I have always been a great fan of science fiction and science. As a child and a young boy, my imagination was profoundly marked by science fiction TV shows such as Star Trek, The Twilight Zone and Space 1999, and movies such as Star Wars, Back to the Future, Alien, Terminator, all of which were distributed in Italy between the ’70s and ’80s. After graduating in Computer Engineering in 2000, I chose to turn my passion for science fiction into a profession and I’ve always worked in the publishing, TV and film industries.
Along with my friends Aleksandar Mickovic and Nicola Vianello, I published the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction on TV for Fanucci Editore, which is currently in its second volume (both volumes have been awarded the Premio Italia for best essay in volume).
From 2001 to 2003 I worked for the satellite channel Jimmy (formerly Canal Jimmy), which gave me the opportunity to supervise the restoration of the Italian edition of many classic TV series, including The Persuaders!, The Saint, The Prisoner, Thunderbirds, UFO and Space 1999. Afterwards I started working in the home video industry, supervising hundreds of titles, including the Italian DVD editions of UFO, Space 1999, The Twilight Zone and Doctor Who, but also classics movies of fantastic cinema such as Evil Dead, Suspiria, The Night of the Living Dead and classics movies of Italian cinema such as the box sets dedicated to Federico Fellini or Pier Paolo Pasolini.
I worked on several TV programs dedicated to science fiction, both as author and producer, including Dottor Futuro (TMC2, 2000), the sitcom Italiani nel spazio (FOX, 2004-2005) and Wonder Stories (Jimmy, 2006-2007), for which I won the third Premio Italia as best artistic operator. I supervised the Italian adaptations of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Battlestar Galactica and all the Star Trek films starting from the 2009 reboot, in which I also made a short vocal cameo dubbing the character of Keenser.
I actively collaborate with various sci-fi conventions, the Starcon (previously only STICCON) and the Reunion, I collaborated with Deepcon, Spazio and I organized the event “Altri mondi” for the International Museum of Cinema and Entertainment in Rome. From 2010 to 2018 I worked for the Fantafestival, the longest-lived fantastic festival in Italy, at first as artistic coordinator and then as artistic director.
In 2009 I was part of the jury of the Trieste Science Plus Fiction festival. I have written for many sci-fi magazines: Delos Science Fiction, the official Italian Star Trek magazine (Star Trek – La rivista ufficiale, with the regular column Non solo Trek, and Star Trek Magazine, with the regular column L’altra fantascienza), Inside Star Trek Magazine (previously Inside Star Trek), Nocturno, CineVFX, Jimmy Magazine, Series Sci Fi and SciFi Magazine (formerly SciFiNow, with the regular column Tele(pre)visioni).
From 2003 to 2012 I was a consultant for the Italian version of Syfy (formerly Sci Fi or Sci Fi Channel), a worldwide television channel specialized in science fiction, for the entire time the channel was present in Italy. For Syfy I have also produced several programs.
In 2016 I published Fantasceneggiati – Sci-fi e giallo magico nelle produzioni Rai (1954-1987), written with Leopoldo Santovincenzo and Carlo Modesti Pauer, the first book dedicated to the complete study of all science fiction and fantastic shows produced by Rai.
For Dylan Dog’s thirtieth anniversary, together with Luca Ruocco, I wrote and directed the documentary Dylan Dog – 30 anni di incubi (Dylan Dog – 30 Years of Nightmares), co-produced by Sergio Bonelli Editore and Studio Universal, the first official documentary dedicated to the character created by Tiziano Sclavi. The documentary was screened at The Space Cinema Odeon in Milan during the Dylan Dog Horror Day.
With co-director Roberto Baldassari we made the first documentary dedicated to Star Trek fans in Italy. The documentary, hosted by Giovanni Mongini and titled Trek IT!, was broadcast on Rai 4 on May 3, 2021.
I wrote the science fiction audio series Mario & Mario, created together with Fabio Marchionni and Maury Incen and published in July 2021 on Amazon Audible and Apple iTunes.
And the adventure continues…
